1940s Frits Henningsen Salon Suite

An exquisite salon suite by Frits Henningsen, consisting of two armchairs, a settee, and a drop-leaf center table. Made in the 1940s. Henningsen's modern furniture design differed from his Danish contemporaries in his use of curved lines, instead of more minimal, straight lines. Those elegant curves are put to great effect here in the cabriole legs of the sofa and chairs and in the slight scroll-form of the table's legs. The settee and chairs are newly reupholstered in a bold forest-green velvet, while the mahogany in the seating and the table are newly refinished. This is an excellent suite that modernizes traditional forms.
