1940s Leather Wingback Armchair Attributed to Frits Henningsen

This exceptional high wingback armchair is attributed to Danish designer Frits Henningsen (1899-1965). Henningsen was renowned for the craftsmanship of his handmade furniture. He created the design for this chair in the 1930s. This particular chair was created in the 1940s. It is newly restored with vintage Italian leather in a deep caramel. The chair's structure celebrates smooth, soft curves. Its backrest is an elegant concave form that transitions into rounded arms.

The chair is austere in its decorativeness: button-tufted backrest and contours refined by upholstered piping. The legs are carved beechwood. The front cabriole legs echo the curves of the frame, while the back legs taper downward and are slightly splayed. Comfortable and chic, this modern take on the classic wingback will be a centerpiece in any interior.
