Gilbert Rohde Art Deco Oval Drop-Leaf Desk

A superb drop-leaf desk by the American designer Gilbert Rohde. Circa 1930s-1940s. The desk is crafted from mahogany and beech wood that are newly re-lacquered. The new finish gives the warm red-brown and orange tones of the wood a smooth gloss. Rohde's design echoes Neoclassical furniture & architecture in the two columnar legs and in the overall simplicity of form. The legs are fluted and rest on a platform base. The single drop-leaf allows for economic use of space. This is an exquisite, versatile desk that will surely be a centerpiece in your home.

Condition notes:

The desk is in great condition and newly refinished. There are minor scuffs and dents that have been absorbed into the gloss, making them barely visible.
