19th Century Biedermeier Elm Chests of Drawers - A Pair

Handcrafted in the 19th Century, these Biedermeier elm nightstands, or chests of drawers, have been newly refinished. The wood has a warm honey-brown tone that brings out the natural woodgrain. Biedermeier furniture are characterized by their simplicity and Neoclassical influence. That's apparent here in the smooth lines and spare decorative features, emphasizing fine craftsmanship and woodwork. Each chest is built with two drawers, each with its own key. Ebonized details in the carved front columns strike an elegant contrast to the warm wood. Other noteworthy features are the front saber legs which are tapered like the back legs.
