Near-Pair Set of American Federal Card Tables

A set of two Federal mahogany folding card tables. Handcrafted circa 1825. They are a near-identical pair with the legs varying slightly in design. These tables are remarkable for their elegant features: the rounded molding of the tops, the hand-carved acanthus leaves, and the rope-turned legs that end in brass casters. The top is hinged and unfolds, expanding to a more rounded shape. One of the back legs easily swings back to support the top when the table is unfolded. We love the versatility of these tables! When they are folded they make a lovely pair of side tables or consoles.
